Plan Ahead for Your Mobility Needs on the Ship

Aloha, cruisers! Justin here, with some important tips for those needing mobility accommodations on the Pride of America. It’s essential to plan ahead to ensure a smooth and enjoyable cruise. Make sure the group service coordinator on the ship knows about any special accommodations you need, and check with the shore excursions team to see if you can bring your scooter, walker, or cane on tours. Here’s a checklist to help you prepare:

  • Compression Socks/Sleeves: Pack these if you need them for better circulation.
  • CPAP Machine and Distilled Water: Don’t forget your CPAP machine and a supply of distilled water.(Bring at MINIMUM a 20ft extension cord with you we found cheap ones here. Pride of America would run out each week when I worked at the guest service desk
  • Cane or Walker: Bring your cane or walker if you use one.
  • Scooter Rental: Set up a rental if you need a scooter.
  • Scooter Keys: If you’re bringing your own scooter, remember to pack the keys.
  • ADA-Compliant Cabin: Ensure your cabin meets ADA requirements if you need special accommodations.
  • Sharps Container: Call the cruise line and request a sharps container for your room if you’re diabetic or need to dispose of needles.
  • Cup Holder: Bring a cup holder for your scooter or walker for convenience.

By planning ahead and making these arrangements, you’ll ensure that your mobility needs are met, allowing you to fully enjoy your cruise experience. Make sure to call NCL or your cruise line with further concerns. Mahalo, and smooth sailing!
