Avoid Using Cruise Ship Medical for Small Things

Aloha, travelers! Justin here with some practical advice to help you avoid unnecessary trips to the cruise ship’s medical center for minor issues. The Pride of America doesn’t have a well-stocked store for basic medical supplies, and you don’t want to be caught without essentials. Here’s a checklist to ensure you’re prepared for small mishaps:

  • Small First Aid Kit: Include band-aids and other basic supplies.
  • Pain Relievers: Bring Tylenol, Motrin, or allergy medication.
  • Digestive Meds: Pack Imodium for diarrhea, stool softeners, and Tums for heartburn.
  • Sea-Sickness Remedies: Bring Dramamine, Bonine, Nauzene, and sea bands.
  • Hydration Packets: Pack electrolytes or Liquid IV for hydration.
  • Topical Creams: Neosporin or hydrocortisone cream for minor cuts and rashes, and bug bite cream.
  • Bug Repellent: Essential if you’ll be in lush landscapes.
  • Eye Care: Bring eye drops and an eye glass repair kit.
  • Cough Drops: Handy just in case.
  • Sunburn Relief: Pack aloe for sunburns.
  • Pain Relief Creams: Icy-hot, biofreeze, or similar hot/cold pain relief products.
  • Covid Test: Ready-to-use home test for peace of mind.
  • Tweezers: For splinters or other small issues.
  • Alcohol Wipes: For cleaning wounds.
  • Gauze Pads and Medical Tape: For larger cuts or injuries.
  • Ace Bandage: For sprains or strains.

By bringing these items, you can handle most minor issues on your own and avoid unnecessary medical charges. This way, you’ll be well-prepared and can focus on enjoying your cruise. Mahalo, and happy sailing!
